My taste in music ranges from soft to “hardcore,” but mainly stays withing the genre of classic rock and hard rock. I focus on music from the 60s, lots of 70s, and some 80s. My type of jam is something that is everlasting, without an expiry date. Songs that are true beauty, songs that can be listened to day after day, year after year without drying out. It’s these qualities that make up the legendary rock that never seems to go stale.
One of these include the brilliant Jimi Hendrix, who is widely known as the greatest guitar player of all time. Jimi played the instrument backwards instead of forwards and that never slowed him down. His career ran short when drugs took the best of him. Although his fame lasted only four years, his career had a span of many more years. Some of my favourites from him include All Along the Watchtower, Purple Haze, Angel, Crosstown Traffic, Stone Free, Foxy Lady, Hey Joe, and Fire.
Second comes multiple bands that go from the heavy stuff like Judas Priest, which my favourite album is Screaming for Vengeance, to even the Styx, where of course Renegade, Come Sail Away, Lady, Babe, Mr. Roboto, Too Much Time on My Hands and The Best of Times are some of the best.
I also praise the work of Black Sabbath, and their awesome tracks like, Paranoid, War Pigs, Crazy Train, N.I.B, Electric Funeral, Iron Man, The Wizard, Black Sabbath, and Rat Salad. I literally have had a Sabbath CD in my stereo for ages now, and I listen to it every single day. In fact, I am listening to it at the moment I write this, and man is it sweet!
Throughout (almost my whole life) I have been listening to Queen. Freddy Mercury’s spell has been cast on me, and I am helpless. My favourite song, Bohemian Rhapsody, the ballad, is performed none other than these legends. Other amazing songs include Don’t Stop Me Now, I Want It All, Innuendo, Too Much Love Will kill You, The Show Must Go On, We Are the Champions & We Will Rock You, I Want to Break Free, Another One Bites the Dust, Radio Ga Ga, Under Pressure, Killer Queen, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Bicycle Race, Fat Bottom Girls, You’re My Best Friend and Stone Cold Crazy.
Pink Floyd is a classic band. Numerous psychedelic trip ensue as you are hypnotized while listening to such a killer set of songs. Such include, Hey You, Comfortably Numb, Another Brick in the Wall, Money, Time, Us and Them, The Wall, Wish You Were Here and Dark Side of the Moon. I’d listen to Floyd on any day at any time, no reason needed. Period.
Last, and most DEFINITELY not least, my favourite band, Led-Zeppelin. Zeppelin rocked hard from 1969 to 1980 when legendary drummer, John Bonham died. They were universally known as the best rock band from the 70s and is still known to be of that status. No other band can compete with such wonders that Zeppelin brings. The feelings and the jams are too powerful to even comprehend. My favourites include Black Dog, Kashmir, When the Levee Breaks, Immigrant Song, Heartbreaker, Whole Lotta Love, Stairway to Heaven, Since I’ve Been Loving You, Baby I’m Gonna Leave You, Dyer Maker, Ramble On, Tangerine, Gallows Pole, Rain Song, Lemon Song, Over the Hills and Far Away, Going to California, Moby Dick, and Misty Mountain Hop. The 9 albums that include John Bonham are some of the best albums that I’ve ever heard. My personal favourite albums are Zeppelin ii and Zeppelin iv. There are not enough words in the English language from which I can truly express myself in how I feel about Led-Zeppelin. Pure genius.
